Rome, Italy β€” one of the many places made possible through points, miles, and a little creativity.

Hi, I'm Katie.

About High On Points

Award Travel Beyond the Basics

High On Points is a podcast and website for travelers who already understand the basics of points and miles and are ready to think more strategically about what comes next.

Meet Katie

Unlike many travel websites, High On Points isn't my full-time job. I'm a full-time professional who loves travel, maximizing value, and sharing the strategies, successes, mistakes, and memorable moments that come from navigating this hobby in the real world.

One of the things that makes High On Points unique is that neither I nor many of my regular guests work in the travel industry. We are pharmacists, physicians, educators, business professionals, parents, and travelers who happen to share a passion for points and miles. The podcast is simply a place where we compare notes, share our real experiences, and help others get more value from this hobby.

What started as a hobby quickly became a passion for finding creative ways to use points, miles, loyalty programs, elite status, and travel benefits to create experiences my family never would have paid full price for.

Why High On Points?

There are already plenty of websites explaining how to earn your first welcome bonus. High On Points focuses on the next step.

I'm most interested in the strategies that come after the basics: maximizing loyalty programs, leveraging upgrade and retention offers, stacking travel benefits, finding sweet spots, and using points strategically to create memorable experiences.

The podcast tells the stories, captures the conversations, and shares the thought process. The website adds what audio cannot: photos, trip reports, companion articles, links, and visuals that help bring the episodes to life.

Podcast first. Website as the companion.

A Philosophy That Guides My Travel

One of the core philosophies behind High On Points is that there is rarely a single β€œbest” program.

Our family regularly uses a variety of programs including American Express Membership Rewards, Chase Ultimate Rewards, Capital One Miles, Citi ThankYou Points, Alaska Atmos Rewards, airline loyalty programs, hotel loyalty programs, travel credits, and elite benefits.

The most valuable travel strategy is often the one that combines multiple programs and opportunities to help you achieve your specific goals.

Points and miles are wonderful, but they're not the destination. The experiences they create are what matter most.
